Writing Competition 2014
Prim-Ed Publishing is delighted to have a writing competition for Pupils and teachers alike.
As an educational resource publisher, we have a new product on the market called "Writing Prompts". Writing prompts is a high-interest, three-box series that provides supplementary materials to support the classroom writing programme. These high-interest cards encourage children to express their creativity while learning how to write using a variety of styles.
Each box contains 200 writing cards, divided into 3 categories:Imaginative - Narrative, PoetryInformative - Procedure, Recount, Report, NarrativePersuasive - Exposition The cards can be used for independent work, whole-class discussions, small group work and most cards contain questions that will generate classroom discussions.Pupils may be assigned specific cards to work on independently or they may choose topics that interest them.
The competition is based on 3 cards selected from each series. Pupils from their respective classes are encouraged to draw inspiration from the cards below and write a story no longer than 500 words.
The pupils teacher submits the story on behalf of the pupil.
For 1st & 2nd Classes: Writing Prompts Box 1: Imaginative: Narrative: 34: "If I could invent anything, I would invent ..."
For 3rd & 4th Classes: Writing Prompts Box 2: Imaginative: Narrative: 28: "Write a fictitious narrative about a day when nothing went right."
For 5th & 6th Classes: Writing Prompts Box 3: Imaginative: Narrative 14: "You are lost in the jungle. Write about how you survive and your feelings when you are ultimately rescued."
